Roger
Brown belt with 8 years of BJJ training and 3 years coaching Kids BJJ at Lions. Previously taught in Hong Kong; competed at AJP Tour events and the 4Stripes Prize Challenge finals.
Brindy
Supports the kids who compete — prep, mindset and tournament day from class to the bracket. Works hands-on with each child on their personal goals, whether that's a first stripe or a podium finish.
What to expect in class
Sessions run about 60–90 minutes depending on the day. Arrive early to wrap, introduce yourself to the coach, and warm up with the group.
- Check-in & mat rules (5 min)Bow on, shoes off, review listening and safety rules.
- Warm-up & movement (10 min)Games, animal walks, breakfalls appropriate to age group.
- Technique (15–20 min)One skill — e.g. guard pass or escape — practiced with partners.
- Drilling & positional play (15 min)Short rounds with coach walking the mat constantly.
- Wrap-up (5 min)Stretch, praise, and parent note if needed for home practice.
Kids BJJ coaches
Roger leads day-to-day kids BJJ with patience and clear structure for younger students. Brindy focuses on competition preparation for kids who want to test skills in tournaments. Both coaches understand child development — when to push and when to encourage — so parents trust the room.
Common questions
What ages do you accept?
We accept children aged 3–12. Contact us if you have questions about readiness — we assess maturity individually.
Is kids BJJ safe?
Supervised at all times. No adult intensity; illegal moves and rough play are stopped immediately.
What should my child wear?
Rash guard and shorts or gi if they have one. Clean feet on the mat only.
Can parents watch?
Yes from the seating area. We ask phones to be on silent and coaching to be left to staff.
How often should kids train?
Two to three classes per week builds skill without burnout during school terms.
Do you offer kids competition?
Yes for students who qualify — Brindy coordinates competition coaching and event prep.
